Pushkar is the very popular town in the state of Rajasthan near to Ajmer city. This town is popular because of the most famous Brahma Temple which is dedicated to Hindus. Many devotees visit here throughout the year. The best season to visit this place is in the Winters (October to March). This town is popular for Pushkar Fair which is also known as Pushkar Camel Fair.

Ways to reach Pushkar

By Air: To reach here by air this city is connected through nearest Airport in Jaipur which is 135 kms from Ajmer. You can easily reach from Jaipur Airport to Ajmer by taxi or bus and from Ajmer Pushkar is only 11 km away.

By Railways: To reach here by railways this city is connected with Ajmer Junction Railway Station. This station  lies on the Mumbai – Ahmedabad – Jaipur – Delhi line and from Ajmer you can take taxi to Pushkar.

By Road: To reach  Pushkar town, you will easily get buses easily from Ajmer and from the other cities.

  • Pushkar Fair is celebrated between the month of October and November during the Kartik Ekadasi (which means according to Hindus calendar 11th lunar day) to Kartik Poornima which is (full moon day or the 15th lunar day) . This year this mela is going to celebrated from 28th October to 4th November. This mela takes place on the banks of Pushkar lake where lot of people visit there.

  • This fair is one of  the world’s largest camel fairs and has also become  important for tourist to explore this town during the mela.

  • This fair is known for trading of cattle, such as camels, horses, cows, goats, and sheep, take place. After trading of these cattle Camel is mainly traded cattle. The camel looks beautiful with various clothes, jewellery with silver bells and bangles.

  1. I have heard of this festival before, but never really looked much into it! now that I have read this, I am most definitely going to attend this when we travel to India. This looks likes so much fun and excitement! Cannot believe how long that beard/moustache is!!!!

  3. I would definitely come to see those moustache! India is so incredibly colourful and rich in culture, landscape and history. I would love to see it with my own eyes. And the camel fair looks cool as well – I think I saw it at some point in NG magazine.
