Q1. Brief introduction about yourself?

Reply: Hello fellow travellers!! I am Aditi Shukla, founder of Lyf&Spice (www.lyfandspice.com). Join me to live my experiences as I travel and eat my way through Asia. Originally from Bangalore, India, and a writer by profession, I have been residing in Malaysia for nearly 3 years whilst capturing stories on culture, streets, food and adventures all around Southeast Asia and India.

Q2. Where you travel and How long your Trip was and when you travel?

Reply: I am, in fact, typing this on the go. I’m currently city-hopping in India. My recent trip, however, was to Perhentian Islands, Malaysia for our annual Scuba-diving break.

Q3. How you reach there via trains, Air or road trip ?

Reply: To get to Kota Bharu, you can fly down to Kuala Lumpur and take a 1-hour flight. If you choose to drive down, you must keep 6-7 hours aside. The nearest railway station is at Tumpat, a district close to Kota Bharu.

Q4. Write brief description about the destination you visit?

Reply: I like to highlight my special journey through Vietnam with my travel buddy and I covered 6 cities in 11 days and had varied adventures at each city. We biked around, took a train, switched flights and went cruising and rowing too. The country offered a lot of variety in terms of colour, nature and life, and gave us the chance to use varied modes of transport in a short span of time. This is how we went around: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Danang – Hue – Hoi An – Danang – Home.

Q5. Places you visit with 3-4 photos of each place you visit?

Q6. Is there any adventur

e activity that you have done on trip?

Reply: Yes, lots of them: Scuba-diving in Perhentian Islands, zip-lining in Laos and Indonesia, gondola ride between cliffs on Timang Beach, high-rope activities in Yogyakarta, white-water rafting in Rishikesh, jungle hiking in Cameron highlands, volcano hiking and lava tour around Mount Merapi, kayaking in Halong Bay to name a few.

Q7. Things you carry with your self on trip?

Reply: I cannot travel without my phone, power bank and a tiny backpack. Besides that, I pull my neck pillow, fanny pack, and notebook and pen along.

Q8. Highlight your travel experience in one paragraph about the place?

Reply: I would like to highlight my trip to Luang Prabang (https://lyfandspice.com/2017/06/06/things-to-do-luang-prabang-laos/), Laos. It offered the best waterfalls, activities and night markets, while focusing on the culture (check out the monks in procession early in the morning), food (wet and night markets) and nature (Kuang Si and Tad Sae Falls).

Q9. Any advice or suggestion you want to give to others about this place?

Reply: Yes sure, Kota Bharu is a small city that is sort of off the map of travellers. I have written a book highlighting all the things to do, see and experience – Kota Bharu Kelantan Malaysia: 50 Travel Tips from a Local (https://lyfandspice.com/2017/10/17/book-release-kota-bharu-kelantan-malaysia/). It’s a journey around the city that explores the culture, food and places of interest. Do check it out.
